Day of Victory service@Yeoju 여주, Seoul

December 17th, the day when the gates of heaven opened, had finally arrived! We left for Seoul by bus at 7 am, with the rest of 200 over overseas congregation members. It was below zero that morning, brrrrrr.

The journey from Seoul to Yeoju여주 usually takes between 1.5 – 3 hours depending on traffic condition. Since we left really early, traffic was still smooth. We stopped by a R&R for a bio break and some light breakfast. Most stalls were selling rather heavy meals such as kimchijigae, jajangmyun, tonkatsu etc. I couldn’t consume that so early in the morning and went for the lighter items… Dunkin Donuts.

For some reason, Dunkin Donuts are really popular here in Korea. They even have some unique flavours catered for the locals here eg: local bean paste donuts. I played safe. Strawberry cream! It had been YEARS since I had a Dunkin Donut (not a fan of donuts). Gotta say, the donut was much softer and definitely better quality than the ones I bought in KL.

Each donut cost between 1,300 – 3000 won (RM 5 and above). *PHEW*

It took us about another 1 hour or so and we finally arrived at Yeoju! The cold was no joke. At minus 6 degrees, even my toes started to feel numb. But hey, we were in Yeoju, and I loved every bit of it despite the cold numbing weather. Everyone strolled up the narrow hill to Moriah sanctuary for the special Day of Victory service.

The sky was navy blue, clear as crystal. It was as if, the heart of Father was also clear, bright, and joyous just by looking above.

It was quite an experience being here at winter, since all my past years in Yeoju여주 were during summer time. I’d never imagined having to wrap up with such thick clothes coming to Yeoju여주, nor having an opportunity to sit so near to the stage.

The worship, sermon message, and commentaries by the various pastors and special guests moved my heart greatly and I was reminded so much of Sr Pastor Rev. Abraham Park, from the time I first met him until December 17th, last year watching VOD from The Lord’s Covenant Church’s sanctuary.

Never would I have imagined, ever in my entire life time journey, of coming to know, accept and believe in Lord Jesus Christ. It is absolutely true how a sojourner like father Abraham who lived like “I don’t know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day”. Everyday that we are able to breathe, walk, eat, and drink, and to loved and be loved is a blessing by Father. However, there are too many of us who have forgotten about this blessing because we are so immersed in the world we live in today.

I sincerely hope that the Word of Redemptive History will rapidly flow through to all corners of the world, like the living water from the Garden of Eden in Genesis 2:10-14

A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin[d] and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.[e] 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

so we may all be restored, and have all fears, grief, tears, sorrow and pain fully wiped away and only be filled with eternal joy and gladness in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Right after the special Day of Victory service, every congregation member walked up the hill to Huisun Garden where our beloved Sr Pastor was laid to rest, and had a special pledge and dedication service there as well.

The view up there was just breathtaking. The bright and sunny skies, with rays of sunlight shining down upon everyone, giving us some warmth. The cold gentle breeze shook the leaves of the trees around, and the sound of insects. Unexplainable peace.

When the service ended, we walked down the hill to Shalom cafe, where lunch was prepared for all the overseas members. Although I had just eaten my donut not too long ago, the cold winter weather really messed up my digestive system. I was hungry again! Seeing these yummylicious food all laid in front of us, I felt so loved 🙂

The side veg dishes were so fresh, but the highlight has got to be this sollongtang, filled with so much tender, juicy beef ribs and meat, and the soup… ahhhhhh *hou hou sek ah!* steaming hot broth, touching the frozen lips. Kaboom!

Personally, I really wanted a second bowl, but that would be just too greedy and there were others still coming in for their lunch. This galbitang was by far my best meal in Korea.

When we got back into the bus, to head to Nogodan church in Mt Jiri지리산 노고단, we were pleasantly surprised by PKJI’s Women Ministry who prepared a foodie welcome gift pack for us. WOW! And I really respect them greatly, as you can feel the women putting in their heart and soul to the overseas family members by seeing how they packed the gift packs.

We got a welcome message on our paperbag!

And even a nicely wrapped gift pack with tied with a “Merry Christmas” ribbon! Even the contents given were very thoughtful eg: Vitamin C sweets and juices, nuts, granola bars. Healthy food to much along the way, and to keep you healthy through the winter weather.

I believe seeing all these during this trip was also Father’s way to teach us Malaysians in TLCC how we shall serve when guests visit TLCC in the future.

Now, another whopping 4 hours bus ride to Nogodan지리산 노고! Phew. I hope I can sleep through the heated bus ride (they love turning on the heater to 30 degrees inside the vehicles, which can be a little suffocating for us who come from tropical climate countries)

Final day brunch@ 나무사이로, Namusairo & Bread B, Seoul

With the short few hours left before departing to the airport, we hopped on the MRT and headed to have a quick brunch at 나무사이로, Namusairo. The previous time I was here was spring time and it was rather cold, so I sat outside with Mr Rush. As it is summer now, indoors it is!

I really adored the authentic, old skool, wooden house feel, making drinking the cuppa ambience really awesome.

A cold and cold cuppa to have a yin and yang feel. Ethiopian beans hand dripped. Yums! I preferred the iced coffee, full of fragrance and body. Perhaps the hot weather too played a role towards my liking for the iced cuppa.

We passed by Bread B Bakery, which is located just opposite Namusairo, and bought a few breads to brunch on with our cuppas.

This sandwich, as described on the board as juicy fresh club sandwich, was literally described as those written words. They were one of the most juiciest sandwiches I had ever eaten. Not to mention how fresh the vegs were.  Wanna scream Ooooh lala!

Bread B is known for its premium sliced cakes, and we bought a slice and put it to the test. The raspberry ganache chocolate cake was….absolutely divine. Cost us RM20 over this slice. Perfect to eat with the hot cuppa Ethiopian bean hand dripped coffee.

It was just plain awesome having amazing coffee at Namusairo with great bakes from Bread B. Can’t wait to come back here soon!
