Dine like a Jap King@Tatsu, Intercontinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur

image

The foodie galore rendezvous gang is off to Tatsu again, for a foodie gathering with some of the TLCC family. There is a super worthy alacarte buffet promotion at Tatsu, for lunches and dinners on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. You may order anything from the ala carte menu as many times as you want (as long as you can finish, of course) for RM 118++.

As there was a big group of us, the waitress did the honour to serve us everything worthy, rather than individual ala carte orders. We were first served with cold dishes: smoked duck slices and baby octopuses. The smoked duck…ooooh  lala. Tender, full of flavour, and not too fatty. We had several platefuls of this.

image

Needless to say, we’d be fools not to order sashimis. They had tuna, salmon, octopus, yellowtail, butterfish. They were a lot fresher than the last time we ate here. We went sashimi crazy that we ordered at least 6 plates of these, or more.

The best fish was the butterfish, soft, tender, buttery flavored somehow. Yummmmyyyy..the waitress noticed how much we loved it that she brought an entire plate of butterfish sashimis alone later. And of course, we wiped it clean!

Grilled beef cubes. Juicy, tenderlicious, a little fiery due to the black peppers. The fried garlic slices added an oomph to the beef! I think we wacked more than 10 plates of it. Holy canoly.

image

This soft shelled crab sushis did not get replenished. Although delicious, but the rice was just not worth spending the calories and tummy space.

image

Holy canoly. This is the bomb yo! The grilled unagi. Oh so fresh. Oh so nicely teriyaki-ed. Oh so good in the mouth. I myself easily ate 6 pieces of unagi. Many eyes widened seeing my gorilla appetite.

image

Butter grilled scallops! Shucks. For…freeeee floowwwwww!!! We had like 5 6 platefuls of this. Thumbs up for freshness.

image

The grilled mackerel was..not bad. A little too bony for me hence, I didn’t eat much of it.

image

More teriyaki grilled fishes:  salmon and cod. The COD. Soft…not too hard and chewy. YUMS. YUMS. YUMS. 1 more order of teriyaki cod please!

image

The chawan mushi thankfully, was small. I didn’t enjoy it that much as it was a little too bland for me. Then again, I am no fan of this dish in general.

image

The tempura, was quite average. The prawns were the best thing from the plate. Even so, I have had better fried battered prawns than this one.

image

The kids were already anxiously waiting for their parents’ approval to flip to the final page to order…desserts! My eyes sparkled too knowing there was free flow ice cream, and chocolate fondue!?

The chocolate fondue came with caramelized fruit slices in sticks and the melted chocolate was added with red bean paste. Rather than using the chocolate sauce to dip the fruit sticks, it was used as ice cream toppings. Haha.

image

Holy canoly round 2. This was by far the best green tea ice cream I had ever eaten. EVER. Not too icey and crumbly, oh so smooth without the powdery granular bits and not sweet. You could actually taste the green tea bitterness. I had like 2 scoopfuls of this. And almost had the 3rd one too.

Our hostess said all ice creams are made in house but the waitress blurted and told us that the ice cream was from the BIG TUB HaaganDaz. She also added that the small tubs (which we buy from marts) tasted different from the giant tubs.

Which is the truth? We will find out!

Our kind and courteous hostess went to the dessert bar and bought us cakes! Honestly, I think the patisserie chef from Intercontinental Hotel really does have class and finesse. His cakes and bakes looked amazing and refined. We had the opportunity to eat his Snickers cake, cheese cake, coffee cake, macaroons, chocolates etc. And they all did not disappoint.

Neither did it, for these two lovelies! Tiramisu in a Fifa Cup ball made of chocolate and a hazelnut slice. Holy canoly number 3. I was chocolate high. Coupled with sugar high from the ice cream.

image

It did not stop there. We also had chocolate truffles courtesy from the dessert bar too. Felt like a queen having all these awesome desserts! I need more!

image

We were told that this promotion may be changed soon as the chef is interested to have a new menu, those who love Jap food and want to eat every penny’s worth, quickly make your way to Tatsu! Before the promotion ends. It is really worth every penny put in. Once you are so done with Jap food, you have the luxury to have amazing desserts right after!

Can’t get enough of ’em eggs@Whitehouse, Kota Bahru

image

Hurrah! We are back for more of those golden eggs! Thankfully it is opened today!

image

If I could express this image in a sketch or cartoon, it would have golden sparkly diamonds surrounding ’em eggs. Now this is the way….to serve half-boiled eggs.

Today’s service was a little under the weather. Our eggs took around 20 minutes to arrive. It was mental torture! Especially the fact we missed breakfast and we were up since 5.00 am.

image

Thankfully, the kopi came first. Hot and kau. Bittersweet. Old skool. I had to have 2 doses of this since I am not having my regular black today.

As those precious eggs were taking their own sweet time to be half-boiled, we ordered a pack of nasi dagang, which came with a yummylicious piece of rendang fish! Cleared off within minutes @_@.

image

After our eggs came, tummies were at least half satisfied now. Then, came the toast bread, which took another 20 minutes to arrive! We reminded the waitress several times but I guess demand was all-time high today.

Oh well…it was worth the wait! 🙂 I ain’t complaining because they were also being courteous.

image

You wouldn’t have guessed, a brightly painted red coloured old mercedes taxi came to pick us up and I was thinking to myself, that I was travelling in KB town in luxury and style….until I opened the door…and sat in to…this.

image

The cushions were gone. Mats were gone. Dirt and sand everywhere. Air conditioning was not functioning. In a land where the temperature was hitting near 40 degrees. Luxury and style alright! Maybe..just maybe..I would prefer a proton wira for now…
