A river is an important entity towards civilization but most importantly it is a symbol of faith and obedience towards the Word of God that will lead us towards eternal life.

Gem star chef Nancy cooked chicken rice for us today and every single item is home cooked: from the chicken, to the dipping sauces, to the ginger chilli sauce, to the ginger buttered rice, to the steamed and fried chicken. Her restaurant will be a big hit if she ever opens one!

I don’t usually eat rice..but I can’t help myself but had 2 servings because the chicken meat were so tender, especially the steamed chicken and the chilli sauce was fiery!

Jenny who just got back from a long holiday in Europe gave TLCC members a little taste of Turkey..all original. While some bits were acquired taste, the best for me were the pistachio nuts coated ones. The sugars were not processed but from all natural sources eg: honey and dried fruits. Another great blessing!

East meets West Ajidon dinner@Home

Having invested on a bottle of wine on a weeknight dinner, the food budget got to be reduced. The cheapest food available nearby my place was Ajidon’s, Plaza Damas. Tapao time!

The 2012 Hardys VR Sauv Blanc (RM 39.90) was an easy one to drink, with and without food. Intense critus flavours, herbs, and grassy feel, crisp finish. Surprisingly it paired well with a pack of charcoal grilled satays!

10 sticks of chicken satays (RM10). Ummm..they weren’t too bad, but not great either. The meat was a little tough, I’m guessing it wasn’t the meat of the day. Once added with the creamy spicy peanut gravy, the downsides were put aside!

Ajidon is also known for their mee rebus, especially the one with lamb bone (only available on Fridays – Sunday). RM4. The mee rebus tasted rather authentic home cooked style. Perhaps it was because they used home made deep fried shallots and the sauce tasted slightly more spicy and creamier than the generic watery mee rebus you find in food courts.

As I am not a fan of rice, it is often opted out from most rice dishes except Nasi Lemak!
I ordered “Nasi Penyet tanpa nasi”.

Yes, it sounded hilarious and silly. But I rather sound so than to waste a bowl of rice.

The chicken and some tempes from their nasi penyet dish cost RM 6. It was basically a deep fried drumstick. Nothing penyet about it at all. In fact everything about the nasi penyet dish was unlike its name. The tempes were lousy and the chilli paste was watery. The best penyet I had ever eaten so far was still in Singapore. You can find the write up in my older posts.

Dinner bill damage: RM 20. Worthy! For the amount of food given. I would be able to get this much of food with RM20 anywhere else nearby except at a mamak, maybe. Maybe not too (some mamak restaurants’ charges are getting overpriced).

The real total dinner damage : RM 20+ RM39.90 = RM 60. Sigh. No wonder I have no savings. In the name of foodventuras!
