Drinks with a gorgeous view@LeVel33, Marina Bay Financial Tower 1, Singapore

image

This trip has made me realise that almost all restaurants in Singapore require early booking, like many days ahead. We barely missed our chance getting the last table at LeVel33 if we had only called a little later. The concierge recommmended us LeVeL33, for good food, drinks and ambience.

This place is known for their craft brews of European heritage. The micro breweries are located at the restaurant itself, visible to all eyes upon walking in. Their trademark is brewing traditional beer recipes while applying mordern brewing technologies.

We ordered the Vienna Blond Lager, apparently its recipe originated in 1841. Floral, fresh, light and not too gassy. Rather enjoyable especially when I was facing such a gorgeous view and weather 33 floors from the ground.

The breeze kept us cool throughout our meal up here. And it was really amazing to see the city changes from dusk to night. The colours of the sky and the lights from the buildings too. We even managed to see a short fountain and light show happening at MBS at 8 pm from up here.

Just a note of reminder: we were told that there must be a minimum spending of SGD 60/pax if you want to be seated outside facing the view. Looks like your ambience and view is not for free and does not come cheap!

Spa like lunch@Kinaree Thai, Jaya One PJ

image

This was my first time having a meal at Kinaree after hearing several compliments from friends regarding this restaurant.

I had a lovely catching-up-with-each-other lunch with some old friends before 2013 closes. The decor of this place makes you feel like you are entering a spa rather than a restaurant. Maybe a little too zen for me haha.

Douf’s sliced chicken with thai sauce and rice was only average. She finished it for the sake of tummy filling purposes. She looked bored haha. RM 17++.

image

The thai rice noodles bowl was gigantic, filled with mostly soup and meehoon. Very few ingredients were added…felt like mainly carbs. Mama SY ain’t too psyched after eating her meal. Oops..RM 17++.

image

This ginger and lemongrass tea is served bottomless but the flavours were so light that it felt like I was drinking slightly fragrant hot plain water. RM 5.90++.

My Phad Thai looked yummy upon presentation. Tastewise was average. Too sweet for my liking. The rice noodles were thinner than the normal kueh teow. RM 17++.

Ambience definitely scored points, but food wise…average only I gotta say. Not sure when will I revisit this restaurant again, we did end up slightly annoyed when the staff kept flickering the lights and turned off the air conditioning because we sat and talked till their break time, 3 pm.

Aiyo…
