Porky madness curry noodles@Xin Quan Fang Kopitiam, Ipoh

TLCC family members were all geared up to work at the History of Redemption Seminar held in Ipoh that weekend. Apart from spiritual work, some of us departed early from KL to make it time for Xin Quan Fang’s curry mee!

We arrived about 10am, and there were clusters of people queueing up outside. Took us a good 15 minutes wait before we got ourselves a table. The table was a fit for 5. There were 8 of us, all adults. Time to suck in the tummy yo!

Our food came about 30minutes time, it was a holiday in some states including Perak, I guess that contributed to how packed the place was. Within seconds, we got hold of our chopsticks, ever ready to pounce onto these deliciousness placed before us.

“Kah Liew”, as how the locals call it. “Add ingredients” literally. We ordered them eat along with our curry mee.

Those who fancy em’ gutters: intestines, tongue, liver and sorts will gleam with joy eating this! I the timid one remain with the meat portions, but hey..timid but happy!

This steam chicken with prawns dish wasn’t too bad either, but the combination with the curry noodles was a little unconventional. I’d still prefer them with chicken rice.

Oink oink! Porkylicious madness up the roof! They were tender, smokey, crackling of the skin was definitely there. Among the three, the roast pork was the best dish for me. Yums!

The curry gravy was unlike other creamy dense curry noodles but also not clear broth either. It is like a combination of both worlds. Truly uniquely XFQ Style. Hence the long queues and challenge in getting available tables everyday. Foodiventurers who drop by Ipoh for a foodie hunt should mark this place down as there will not be curry noodles served in such a style anywhere else in Malaysia.

Although  the noodle portion was somewhat small, each one of us paid about RM 11 which was really quite alright for the variety of food we were getting.

Jiak loh ti lim ko pi@Kin Wah Kopitiam, Johor Bahru

Had a wonderful old skool breakfast with my friend and her family at this famous corner lot Kopitiam right opposite my favourite banana cake shop.

This was my first time here, and hey, I woke up really early just to be here by 7.30am. Was told that most food would be sold out my late morning and this kopitiam would be crazily packed if you do not come here early.

I had a good dose of old skool style stocking kopi panas with this coffee shop’s famous butter kaya toasted buns. Anything toast, always wins for me.

Mind you, they are pretty generous with butter haha. Not for the faint hearted and the dieting folks. Had a little charcoal burnt aroma on the outer crusts too. Pretty enjoyable indeed! Coupled by the fact the old skool feeling was like a whole package: food, to old fans, tiny tiled flowery floors, marbled tables and wooden chairs, and plenty of localites!

Twas quite a nice morning. Got to know her kids as well, and her son is absolutely adorable! And also learnt about her daughter’s love for food haha.

Thanks for the fun early morning! Now…back to work!
