Waffled in between chicken patty yummyness!@Velocity .Coffee. Bicycle Cafe, Ampang

follow site This new found retreat after stressful visits at the nearby hospital proved to be really useful!

Hidden within the compound of a large building hosting a car shop and gym, is a pro-bike shop/cafe. The vibes that I get from this cafe is a chill out/catchup place for bike enthusiasts over a lovely meal, perhaps after an adventurous ride convoy.

I actually liked the ambience even though I am no pro biker. I think the owners did a good job in ensuring the balance wasn’t tipped over too much until non-bikers feel uncomfortable eating here.

The food quality in my opinion was also pretty good! For a change, I decided to have my waffles served without ice cream, maple syrup or butter. Instead, these butter crunchy goodies were sandwiched with a tenderlicious chicken patty with vegs and mustard.

I appreciated their efforts in ensuring good quality food was served. At least for my waffles, I felt the sincerity of the chef from my meal. The waffles were crunchy, the patty was tender, yet filled with flavours, and the vegs were fresh too. At least the mustard wasn’t directly from the tube itself from its texture and colour, showed that the chef made his/her own dressings also.

And another key factor was also the pleasant approach of all their staffs. Greeted us with smiles from the moment we entered, until we left. I think this is essential in every F&B place.

The meal cost RM 20 plus, which was alright for me for such ambience and quality. I couldn’t finish all either way and took the second half of the piece home for dinner. Whee! Dinner meal covered!

Definitely wanna pay this place a visit again when I’m nearby here some time soon in the future!

Braised duckie goodness!@Tai Keh Huat, Skudai, Johor

This shady spot, popularly known amongst local Johor Bahru-ians, and our friendly neighbour Singaporeans and siblings Melaccans, for its amazing braised duck.

We were here early hence the lunch crowd has yet to come. The strong, heavy, smell of herbs and savoury meatiness of the duck surrounded the area.

Nothing seemed perfect without braised herbal eggs and tofu. Pretty average, but oh well, it ain’t complete having duck noodles without this!

You can select the type of noodles of your liking: be it kueh teow, bee hoon, yellow mee, lou shu fun etc to go along with your braised duck. I went with the usual fav of my, kueh teow!

This was half a braised duck’s portion. Really huge! And there were only two of us. Burpsssss. Ok, protein intake! The duck meat, deserved its fame and popularity. Tenderlicious, and juicy! Filled with all the herb fragrances and not too fatty also (my style). Thumbs up! Even though it was just the two of us, we braced through and stuffed ’em deliciousness down our tummies!

In a way, this dish reminded me a lot of Ba Kut Teh, with its servings of tofu, fried foo chuk and herb based flavours. Disregarding all the oil and fats absorbed into these crispy flaky fellas, I whalloped up piece after piece.

Total damage was about 20 per pax which I’d thought it really ain’t bad for the generous portion we received. It’d probably be nice if there were 3 of us instead of 2.

Worthy place to come by and oh yeah, many politicians visited this place also, particularly MCA. Don’t know why but, guess good food draws no boundaries!
