Again, I visited CommonGrounds at Citywalk for a couple cup of awesome hand drip single origins coffee.
This time, the beans are from 2 awesome roasters in Austrialia:
First up: SINGLE ORIGIN – COLOMBIA SAN AGUSTIN from Sensory Lab http://www.sensorylab.com.au
We brew it Chemex style allowing a clean profile. Let this baby cool down for 10 minutes and you get an awesome POW WOW Sweet Floral Berry nose in a clean tea like body.
At USD 3.5 per glass. This baby is a killer.
below is the tasting note from SensoryLab
Region: Pitalito, Huila
Elevation: 1700-1950 masl
Cultivar: Caturra, Castilla, Typica
Sweet, juicy and balanced. Presenting black cherry with rich chocolate on the finish.
Second up: Kongo Mugano from Toby Estate Australia http://www.tobysestate.com ( Not Singapore branch)
Brewed via chemex, and it was sweet, juicy and even more intense blacktea profile in the mouth. however, as it cool down, it wasn’t as surprising and Kaboom as the SensoryLab’s Columbian.
Tasting note from Toby Estate
It has been two decades since the height of the coffee market in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but the DRC is beginning to reemerge as a producer of specialty coffee. Along with its rarity and a quality similar to well regarded Kenyans, as our first release of a coffee from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this is a truly exciting offering.
The Muungano sparkles with the sweet crispness of honeydew and subtle notes of pear, and rounds out with deeper raisin notes on the finish.
