All things pork@Swine, Publika, Solaris Dutamas

Okay. We declare…the truth behind dining here was the free corkage from bottles purchased at the wine section located just outside Swine. It was date night with the TLCC sisters and wine and catching up were the main agendas for the night. Pork was secondary haha.

The bacon wrapped cocktail sausages were…alright. You can’t go wrong with the two combinations as appetizers. 5 pieces for nearly MYR 20 was a little steep though. But I recalled the bacon wrapped prawn I ate in Lucky Restaurant, Pasir Putih Ipoh cost a whopping MYR 7 per piece.

Is bacon THAT expensive?

The roast pork slice with mashed potatoes was better than the one I had last round. The pork was much more tender and less fatty this time and they meshed up em potatoes just right. Nearly MYR 30 for this meal. $$$$$$. @_@

As there were only 3 of us (all ladies), jaga badan was part of the unspoken agenda too. We tried to keep our meals light to reserve the calories for the wines. We ordered a cheese sausage, a giant peppered cheese infused sausage….thankfully it did tasted like home made (you can tell from the sausage skin) and not from a mass produced pack you can buy from the frozen section.

I could easily whip this up on my own. Cost us near MYR 15 for this. Phew. Food at restaurants are really getting more and more expensive.

Hence MYR 1 whole chicken kinda stories make me roll eyes.

So, TLCC sisters, when is our next date?

Dinner mexicana@Cafe Iguana, Singapore

Through my various times visiting Singapore,  including my working time here few years ago, I somehow never had the chance to dine in Cafe Iguana, although it is one of very popular places in Singapore. Until now!

Since it is nearby where I stayed, we decided to foodieventure here!

Nachos with salsa dip to open up the tastebuds! Once pop can’t stop!

I ordered the beef steak fajitas, SGD 29. Seriously…we would probably pay near MYR 50 or more for this, with lesser portion. My steak was medium rare, and the portion could feed 2 adults… (although I finished it all myself. Goodness. Phew).

One word….YUMS! Well marinated, full of smoked flavours and beef slices were super tender. My friend’s eyes widened a little when I cleared off the last piece from the sizzling hot plate.

The avocado dipping sauce was UH-mazing. Freshly blended! Yummy!

Now…to eat popiah/spring rolls the English way. Wrap wrap, roll roll, ngarm ngarm ngarm!

The one thing that did let me down was the draft Iguana lager. I expected to be wow-ed more by their own craft brew beer…but it lacked flavour and character to me. I struggled to finish my 330 ml pint too.

Other than that…I absolutely loved my beef steak fajitas. ๐Ÿ™‚
