The last time I came here was few years ago, but I couldn’t forget the yum-ness of the charsiewpaos (CSP). After our meeting at Port Dickson, I decided to swing by Seremban town to rekindle my CSP love with Siew Pao Master pow wow! Gave a call to my gf who is a local here and got the directions to the shop.
I must say that the journey here was truly pleasant. I never noticed how much greenery Seremban has until I drove past their park and housing areas. Lush greens, big trees, giant leaves, warm breeze. Maybe it reminded me a lil of Taiping town so I felt a strong liking to this town too.
We definitely need a GPS to get here if one is unfamiliar with the roads.
I parked across the road but when I walked out of my car the pungent whiff of buttery aroma clouded the entire road. Imagine shop owners nearby smelling this everyday. I’d be a big blobby blob because I will fail resisting the smell and end up having this everyday!
The ladies were busily baking, moulding, buttering, flouring, packing etc. The heat was quite immense, and I give all my salute to every person working here. Besides their usual bakes, they are also selling cookies in conjunction of CNY. I really like the honesty of the seller, telling us that it’s best bought and eaten within two weeks or less if we want to enjoy them best. She gave various cookies to try out too. Tempting as ever, I had to turn down the offer after 2-3 pieces of cookie testing.
I loved the eggtarts! Not too sweet and no overly heavy eggy smell. It was awesome when heated up in the oven prior eating. Darrrnsssss..me..want..moreeeee.
I bought a few boxes back to share with TLCC family at church next day, and everyone enjoyed them!
Some parts of the skin was a little thick, but it was alright because it is soft and fluffy. The CSP ingredients were nicely done too. Not too sweet and from the colour itself you could tell that it was quite home made than the usual reddish brown ones you may find in commercialised ones.
Total damage for 12 pieces of CSP, 10 pieces of pineapple tarts and 4 eggtarts were RM 35.
Not sure if that was cheaper than the commercial ones or not, but I was just very glad to have my pow wow CSPs after a long while and I am glad I can share it too with my TLCC brothers and sisters.
