The last I came to this shop, it was still a mamak restaurant. Guess that didn’t work with another mamak restaurant just across the street. Now, the corner lot is filled with the hustle and bustle of korean foodie lovers who want a feel of how eating is like in Korea. A quick glance of this place brings back makan makan memories in Seoul. Even those dining here are predominantly Koreans.
The key selling point of this place is that you get to eat pretty good korean food mamak style. You get to sit at the pavement while enjoy the warm breeze blown from those power ceiling fans, and best part of all…affordably priced sojus and beers! Feels like the summer holidays in Korea altogether.
The sides were amazing. Deliciously made kimchis and preserved cucumber slices. Refilled twice for the growling tummies!
The seafood tofu soup was about RM 14. Tonsssss of chopped tofu chunks in d the nicely flavoured slightly creamy soup. This bowl itself was technically, sufficient as 1 main meal.
Here..lies the beginning of an exciting foodieventure! Chunks of fiery charcoal placed in the middle of the metal table, warming up the wired grill. Watching those flames igniting away on those charcoal chunks felt like I was sitting in front of a mini bonfire at the beach.
Freshly marinated baby octopuses (RM 20) waiting to be grilled. They looked rather nasty being like this, but things were about to change 360 over.
Captain Davey Jones’s beard was about to be cooked! The soft and long tentacles curled up gradually from the fiery heat and while cooking, you may use the giant scissors to snip them into bite and wrap sizes which would also help speed up the cooking time. The octopuses were …5 thumbs up!!! (I would if i have 5 thumbs).
The pork ribs on the other hand, were quite average. The meat was a little tough even after attempting to snip em’ into smaller pieces. They were stuck quite strongly to the bone, making the meat rather hard to remove, bite and chew through.
Nonetheless, all in all, the food quality for me was really above average. I had a great time here eating and if I erased of my conscience knowing I was in Solaris Mont Kiara for just one moment, I would have thought I was in Seoul right now.
